Last week a dispute arose over appointments in the university. The education ministry has asked the President to allow an inquiry against the vice chancellor. For now, Professor PC Joshi will take over as Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University(DU).
Delhi University Vice-Chancellor suspended:
After the dispute last week, the education ministry asked the president to allow an inquiry against Yogesh Tyagi. The dispute was over the appointments to the university. The president allowed the inquiry against him. Vice-chancellor was accused of misconduct and dereliction of duty by the ministry.

A government statement mentioned,” The President of India in his capacity as Visitor of the University, on consideration of facts and material available on record, has ordered to conduct an inquiry into the allegations of dereliction of duties and lack of commitment and devotion to duty against him.”
Education ministry wrote a letter for suspension of Vice-Chancellor till completion of inquiry:
The education ministry wrote a letter to the university registrar stating that VC to be suspended till the inquiry is completed. This was because he may influence the investigation while in office.
Professor PC Joshi to take over the vice-chancellor of Delhi University:
For now, Professor PC Joshi will be the vice chancellor. On 2 July Mr Tyagi was admitted to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital with an emergency condition. Since then he has been on leave. Until Mr Tyagi resumed office, the government made Professor PC Joshi as the VC.
