Though the number of covid cases is increasing day by day at a tremendous rate, the markets have been heavily crowded in this festive season.
Delhi’s prominent marketplaces are filled up with thousands of people as the festive season begins. Since covid 19 cases are increasing in the city, it’s a major concern for the authorities to look upon the matter of heavily crowded markets.
Despite increasing covid cases, the city’s markets are full of shoppers: social distancing being compromised.
No doubt there are strict protocols for wearing masks and violation of the same will be penalized. Besides, the police are also distributing makes to those individuals who can’t afford them. On 30 October there were 5891 fresh covid cases in Delhi. Till date, it’s the highest number of cases.
Amit Sharma, DCP( Shahdara) said, “On the prosecution front, the police issue challans to people not wearing masks or maintaining social distance. The police distribute masks for free to people who are not able to afford them.”
Covid 19 cases are increasing in Delhi and thousands of people are thronging the prominent markets in the city for festive shopping weeks ahead of Diwali and hence social distancing norms are seen being compromised.
Devraj Baweja is the general secretary of the confederation of Sadar Bazar traders. He said, “We urged the civic agencies to crack down on encroachment. Even if people try to ensure social distancing, there is hardly any space in the market for that. Trader bodies are in talks over staggered hours in the festive season.”
