A 46-year-old man was killed on Thursday after a violent clash broke out at a meeting for allocation of two fair price shops in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh under the presence of police officers.

In the connection with 46-year-old man’s killing five people have been arrested for the incident which happened at a meeting conducted for the allocation of two fair price shops in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The killing triggered outrage as it allegedly took place in the presence of top district and police officers.
Brij Bhushan, Additional director general of police said that the brother of the main accused, Dheerendra Pratap Singh, Narendra Pratap Singh is among the five arrested on Friday in connection with the incident in Ballia district.
Jaiprakash Pal was the 46-year old who was killed during the meeting after officials decided to cancel the meeting because of some anonymous dispute.
Main accused is on run and is District President of Sainik Prakosht of BJP
Dheerendra Pratap Singh who is the main accused and is on run since the incident is the Ballia district president of the Sainik Prakosht (servicemen’s cell) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to Surendra Singh who is BJP lawmaker who represents Bairia constituency in Ballia. Surendra Singh described the incident in Ballia district as “a casualty” and said that the law will bring justice to the ones wronged.
The two brothers Dheerendra and Narendra Pratap Singh have been named in the First Information Report (FIR) filed in the case for the incident. A police officer said raids were being conducted to arrest the accused, which include 22 unnamed people. Hari Pratap Shahi, Ballia district magistrate said that the process of cancellation of arms licences of the accused was underway.
