On Wednesday, Flipkart reported that in its Big Billion Day sale, the company delivered about 1 crore shipments in the first five days. In the last Big Billion Day Sale, the company made 10 lakh deliveries, however in the same period this year, Flipkart delivered nearly 1 crore shipments.
Flipkart delivered 100 orders per second: Big Billion Day Sale
The e-commerce company witnessed 110 orders placements per second. This year, there is massive ten-time growth compared to last BBD by the eCommerce marketplace. The momentum was for various categories including mobiles, fashion, electronics, books, general merchandise and home, and home furnishing categories.
110 orders placements per second and 66.6 crore visits during Big Billion Day Sale:
There were about 110 orders placements per second and over 66.6 crore visits were recorded during BBD out of which 52% visits were from tier iii cities. Nandita Sinha is the vice president of customer growth and engagement, Flipkart. She said, “The revival in demand and resurgence of consumption is expected to remain even after TBBD, as we continue to uplift the entire ecosystem.”
3.5 million deliveries done through Kirana partners in the first five days:
The e-commerce company announced that nearly 3.5 million deliveries were done through Kirana partners in the initial days of TBBD. This year, there was about 1.5 times the number of transacting sellers compared to the previous year.
50 per cent demand came from tier III customers:
The company revealed that 50 per cent demand by the tier III customers came from regions for the large appliances category. The segment of smartphones driven by Apple, Google and Samsung saw a growth of 3.2 times. As reported, the mobile category saw two times growth in the customers.
