Carl Reiner an American the prolific writer, performer, director, comedian, screenwriter, and publisher, the creator of many great shows including “Dick Van Dyke Show” and “The 2000 Year Old Man” has passed away at the age of 98.
Rob Reiner, son of Carl Reiner also the director through his tweet informed the world about his father’s demise on Tuesday. The tweet says: “Last night my dad passed away. As I write this my heart is hurting. He was my guiding light.”
Carl Reiner died of natural causes on Monday, June 29, 2020, at his home in Beverly Hills confirmed by his assistant Judy Nagy. He started his career in the Hollywood industry in the 1950s and his first of few shows were ‘Caesar’s Hour’ and ‘Your Show of Shows’. Reiner was known as the father of filmmaking because of his efforts. He won nine Emmy awards in which five awards were only for the show “Dick Van Dyke Show”, the show was based on his life as a comedy- writer.
Later, he came into the limelight because of his acting too, he was an actor in many films including “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians are Coming”, “Ocean’s Eleven” and its sequels. Though he preferred to work behind the curtains making others laugh with his wit.
Carl Reiner’s Background:
He was born in The Bronx, New York, U.S. on March 20, 1922. His autobiography reveals a lot about his personal life, his mother was a homemaker and his father was a watchmaker. He went to Georgetown University and in 1943 got married to Estelle Lebost. Since childhood he a passion for becoming an actor, in an interview with Moment Magazine he said: “Every week for a year, I did two shows at the Gilmore Theatre. I was a very good, solid, serious actor. That’s what I wanted to do.”
Carl Reiner entered in the army in 1942 he was on the post of teletype operator in the signal corps. After leaving the army he became a stand-up comedian in 1947. From there he learned more about his passion as a comedian and he followed his passion.
His contribution to Hollywood is worth remarking and will never be forgotten by us.
