India-China: The Indo-Chinese border in Ladakh is in ‘critical situation’ since April this year. Ever since Commander- ranked officers from the side of both the armies have met five times so far over the discussion to reduce the tension on border.
Talks among the nations has not yielded any result
However, the talks did not yield any positive results yet. Today the military commanders will take part in corps commander level talks between India and China. From the Indian side, two lieutenant generals which are Lieutenant General Harinder Singh and three-star officer Lieutenant General PGK Menon will be the representatives o the behalf of Indian Army.
Lieutenant General Harinder Singh has been leading the military talks from the Indian side to reduce the tension on the Ladakh border. He took charge of the corps in October 2019 and will be completing his term next month. Lieutenant General PKG Menon will replace Harinder Singh and will be the commander of 14 corps in Leh.
The military dialogue will happen in Moldo today
The military dialogue today will happen in Moldo which is on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control. This will be for the first time that a joint secretary- ranked official from the Ministry of External Affairs will participate in the talks to ensure that the talks provide positive results and reduce the tension on Indo- Chinese border. Also, a representative of the Indian Defence Ministry participate in the diplomatic dialogue under The Working for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on border affairs.
The tension in Eastern Ladakh on Indo- Chinese border started in April after the sudden movement of corps of the Chinese Army PLA ( People’s Liberation Army) on the border. The corps commander ranked officer has met five times so far but the talks did not yield any positive outcomes in breaking the deadlock in Ladakh.
