India has defeated China and has been selected as a member of the United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women, a body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Now India is a member of the UN’s Commission on Status of Women
The win of India was announced by TS Trimurti, permanent representative of India to the United Nations by tweeting ‘India wins seat in prestigious ECOSOC body!’. He added that it would be a great endorsement of India’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in all India’s endeavors. Trimurti thanked all the member states for the support.
Two members of the Asia-pacific states were to be elected to be a member of the Commission on Status of Women. India, Afghanistan, and China contested the elections to be the member of the Commission on Status of Women. After through ballot India and Afghanistan won the elections while China could not even cross the halfway mark.
India took a jibe on China and Pakistan for enhancing Terrorism
India will remain a member of the United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women for four years from 2021 to 2025. On Monday, While taking a jibe on Pakistan and China India’s remarked that some countries have been taking advantage of the global pandemic to intensify their terrorism network and to implement aggressive policies. While India’s has been providing medical supplies as well as PPE kits all over the world to enhance the health conditions of several countries.
China has been facing the rage of many countries for the fact that the global pandemic Covid-19 which has cost lives of millions of people originated on China’s soil. The coronavirus infections have crossed 3 crore mark around the world. The condition could have been controlled if China would have alerted the whole world of the Global infection, however, China tried to hide the infections. Now many countries have shut their doors to Chinese policies as well as it’s market.
