India and US to hold third 2+2 ministerial meeting in New Delhi next week

Next week India and the US will conduct their third 2+2 ministerial meeting in New Delhi as informed on Tuesday by US secretary of defence Mark Esper. Mark Esper however did not deny the possibility that the two countries can sign a widely anticipated maritime information sharing agreement. On October 27 Mark Esper along with US secretary of state Mike Pompeo will travel to New Delhi, India to take part in day-long in-person meetings with their Indian counterparts Rajnath Singh and S Jaishankar.

14 US Senators expressed their strong support for India inviting Australia for the naval Malabar military exercise

In a separate event, a group of 14 US senators expressed “strong support” in India’s decision of formally inviting Australia for Malabar Military exercise next month. Navies of India, Japan, Australia and the US will take part in this Malabar Military exercise next month. India, Japan, Australia and the US are QUAD countries and this step of military exercise is invaluable move for defence perspective and is of great importance. Recently, Australia announced that the Australian Navy will take part in QUAD’s Malabar Military exercise after formally invited by India.

Mark Esper and Secretary Pompeo will arrive in New Delhi next week for two plus two meeting

At the Atlantic council, Mark Esper said that he and US Secretary Pompeo will be in New Delhi next week. Its US ‘s second two plus two with India under Trump administration and third ever for the United States two plus two with India will be of great importance.

On responding to the question on the maritime information sharing agreement as reported widely as this meeting’s agenda, Mark Esper said that there are number of things that will be discussed with India but further information will be released when the time is appropriate.
