IRCTC has its next-generation e-ticketing website under a revamp

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation or IRCTC has its next-generation e-ticketing website in a revamp. The Indian Railways are looking forward to introducing changes in the official website of IRCTC in the near future. It is expected that the official e-ticketing website of the national transporter will have a completely different interface in the coming months.

The IRCTC website portal is www.irctc.co.in. This web platform was last upgraded in the year 2018 when IRCTC added a ton of new and interesting features. The then added features facilitated easier and convenient ticket bookings for the consumers. Now, once again the official website is getting upgraded with several new additional features.

VK Yadav is the Railway Board Chairman. In a recent report, he said that the IRCTC web portal of IRCTC will undergo a complete revamp in order to further simplify the processes as well as to personalize the use of artificial intelligence for better consumer experience. Besides, the web portal will also be linked with hotel booking and meal bookings.

In 2018 upgrade, the IRCTC website the need to ‘Log In’ was done away with along with the introduction of various new features to the website like payment option by six banks as preferred banks, waitlist prediction feature, Vikalp feature to choose alternate trains in case of waitlist tickets and new user interface.

According to the Railway Board Chairman, the national transporter has been working on a lot of digital initiatives in its freight train operations. These initiatives include Integrated Coaching Management System, Software-aided Train Scheduling System, Crew Management System, the Freight Operations Information System, e-registration of demand and E-payment Gateway, Control Office Application, Safety Information Management System and auto-generation of optimized loco links. He also said that all these applications will be utilized for the smooth and convenient movement of freight trains.
