Guwahati: As reported by the police, the candidate Neel Nakshatra Das, the topper of JEE( Joint Entrance Exam) Mains in Assam has been arrested. Along with Neel, his father and three employees of a testing facility have been arrested.
The topper of JEE mains in Assam Neel Nakshatra Das, his father Dr Jyotirmoy Das and three employees of testing facility Hamendra Nath Sharma, Pranjal Kalita and Hirulal Pathak have been arrested for allegedly using a proxy to write the exam.

The accused scored 99.8% in JEE mains exam, the exam which forms the basis of admission in India’s top colleges of engineering, also IITs. The candidate, his father and the three employees will be produced in the local court on Thursday.
MP Gupta is Guwahati Police Commissioner. He said, “An FIR (first information report) has been registered with the Azara Police in Assam against the topper of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains in Assam, allegedly for using a proxy to appear in the examination on his behalf. We investigated the case and have unearthed that a proxy was used by the candidate through the help of another agency that acted as a middleman.”
Further, he revealed that the staff of the testing centre in Guwahati was also involved. Also, the police are searching for more people who were part of the crime. He said that this might be a larger scam and not just one case. Police are looking at all aspects.
