Nikita Murder case: Cops targeted amid protest in Ballabhgarh. In New Delhi, today, a protest against the murder of a 21-year-old turned violent after police tried to disperse the crowd. The crowd had blocked the highway connecting the national capital. The protesters threw stones at the police and there was a clash between protesters and police near Delhi. However, after 20 minutes or so the situation was brought under control.

Protesters blocked Delhi Agra Highway and clashed with police

The protesters had blocked the Delhi Agra highway. The woman, Nikita Tomar,21 was shot outside her college on 26 October. Nikkita Tomar went to Ballabgarh to take an exam. Nikita was a final year commerce student from Haryana.  A panchayat meeting was held to discuss the matter. For nearly 20 minutes, the protesters blocked the highway near Ballabgarh in Faridabad following which the police intervened.

DCP, Haryana police, Sumer Singh said,” Several people have been detained for trying to disrupt law and order situation in Ballabgarh today on National Highway 2, while ‘mahapanchayat’ was underway. Permission was not taken to hold the ‘mahapanchayat’.

Attacker Touseef and Rehan have been arrested:

Nikita Tomar was attacked by Touseef. Touseef and his friend Rehan were waiting for her to come out. Touseef was known to Nikita. The Faridabad police officer OP Singh said that Nikita was kidnapped by Touseef in 2018 also 

The complaint in 2018 as well:

Both Touseef and Rehan have been arrested. The police said that Nikita’s father complained in 2018 as well but had withdrawn it.

The police said that many people have been detained for disrupting the law and order in Ballabgarh on National Highway 2. Also, permission was not taken for mahapanchayat. The mahapanchayat was underway. 

The protesters clashed with police and started throwing pebbles on them.
