Amarinder Singh: After Congress party initiated the two-month long agitation opposing the three farm bills that were passed in the Monsson session of the Parliament. Ever since the passing of the farm bills farmers along with opposition parties are protesting against the Ordinances.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh protested against the farm bills and held a sit-in protest at Khatkar Kalan in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Captain Amarinder Singh paid tribute to Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary saying that the country will always remain indebted to his incredible sacrifice.
President has given his assent to farm bills despite opposition from farmers and opposition parties
The President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to the three farm bills that were passed by the Parliament. The three ordinances passed are: The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Service Act, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Farmer unions has called out for Bharat Bandh in many states
Captain Amarinder Singh said that the farmers of the state are severely affected leading them on the way to economic problems. Protests by the farmer unions and opposition parties are going on in many states calling for Bharat Bandh. Protests are going on in Punjab, Haryana and other parts of the country. A tractor was set on the fire by the members of the Youth Wing of Congress.
8 MPs of the opposition parties were suspended from the upper house for one week for indulging in violence against Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha Harivansh. The violence occurred when the members of Parliament were protesting against the passing of farm bills along with the insufficient time period provided for the discussion of the ordinances. The raged MPs broke the microphone along with standing on the tables to show their displease to the bills.
