Earlier the government announced that schools will remain closed till 31 October due to ongoing covid pandemic. However, on Saturday Arvind Kejriwal told reporters on the sidelines of an event that schools in the national capital will remain closed for now. Due to covid pandemic, schools and universities have remained closed since 16 March. On 16 March, the centre announced a countrywide classroom shut down to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Educational institutions in the country continue to remain closed:
On 25 March, a nationwide lockdown was imposed by the central government. After 25 March, slowly many restrictions have been eased out in different phases of unlocking. Nevertheless, educational institutions are still closed. According to unlock phase guidelines, schools can be reopened by the state in phases.
Earlier, schools had permission to call students from class 9-12 voluntarily:
Initially, it was decided that students can go to schools voluntarily from 21 September. The students from class 9 to 12 were permitted to do so. However, the government of Delhi was against it.
