Schools in the capital to remain closed till further orders: Manish Sisodia

New Delhi: On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that all schools in Delhi will continue to remain closed till further orders. Further, at the online press conference, Sisodia stated that even parents are also not in favour of sending their children to schools till the condition improves further.


Earlier according to the announcement made by Delhi government, Schools were scheduled to remain closed till 31 October 2020. Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that they will keep getting feedback from parents about reopening of the schools. Also wherever the schools have been opened, there has been a rise in covid cases among children. That why it is decided that as of now, schools in Delhi will continue to remain shut till further orders.

Since March 16, schools and universities across the country have been closed. The centre announced that countrywide classroom shutdown will be the part of measures to contain the spread of the ongoing covid pandemic.

The nationwide lockdown was imposed on 25 March. After which several restrictions have been eased out in different unlock phases. However, the educational institutions comprising nationwide schools, coaching centres, universities continue to remain closed. According to Unlock 5 guidelines, states can take a call on reopening of the schools in different phases, following which many states in the country have begun the procedure of reopening schools. Nevertheless, the Delhi government has decided not to reopen the schools as of now and to wait till the condition improves further.
