New Delhi: A video is making rounds on social media. In the video, Arzoo’s mother is seen pleading with her to return inside the police station. Arzoo Raja is a 13-year-old Christian girl in Pakistan. After reports of abduction, forced conversion and marriage, Sindh High Court has given Arzoo’s custody to her husband. Sindh High Court said that Arzoo accepted Islam as per her own will.

The Sindh Court in Pakistan has given Arzoo’s custody to her husband. Arzoo was abducted and forcibly converted, following which she was married to her husband. The court said that the girl aged 13 years has willingly accepted Islam. Further, the court in its verdict said that Arzo was neither abducted nor forced.
Arzoo in her testimony said that she accepted the faith by herself. Further, she said that she was neither abducted nor forced to marry. In the video that is making rounds on the internet, her family is seen pleading with her, to tell the truth, and go home with them. However, Arzoo said that she was not lured by money and married by her own will.
While questioning the decision of the court, Pakistan Minister for Science and Technology said in a tweet, “Honorable JCP this requires a thorough inquiry into loopholes in the elevation system of Judge’s decision is contempt of Pakistan Justice system….”
Even if the marriage was not done by force, Arzoo is a minor and the marriage in such cases is certainly illegal. Naveed Walter is the president of HRFP( Human Rights Focus Pakistan). Walter said that minority girls are forcefully converted to Islam and made to marry Muslim men. He added, “Abduction, conversion and marriage on the same day is a common practice in such cases and it has happened with Arzoo also in the same sequence.”
