On 3 November, a student of Lady Shri Ram College for Women(LSR Hostel ) in Delhi died by suicide. Aishwarya said in her suicide note that she did not want to be a burden on her family. Also, she wrote that she didn’t want a life without education too. She was not able to afford her education as she did not receive an instalment of her scholarship that was due in March.
Aishwarya was a Mathematics student and was the sate topper in her 12 th examination. The girls were a resident of Rangareddy district in Telangana. After she took such a harsh step, many protests were witnessed in the state demanding justice for her. The people termed her death as institutional murder.
Aishwarya was receiving INSPIRE scholarship from the Ministry of science and technology
For her higher education, she had mortgaged her house to fund for it. She was reviving INSPIRE scholarship from the Ministry of science and technology by the government.
According to the statement issued by SFI( Student’s Federation of India), her scholarship was delayed since March resulting in immense financial pressure for her and her family.

Unnimaya is the student Union General Secretary of LSR. After Aishwarya’s death, she issued a statement wherein she said that LSR administration revoked hostel facilities for all students except for freshers and this sudden decision affected her. She added,
“It was allegedly conveyed to her that the scholarship amount could only come after the conclusion of the second year. The UGC and other agencies have failed to provide scholarships and cited the pandemic as an excuse for the same.”
