The first case of covid 19 related brain nerve damage in a child is reported by AIIMS(All India Institute Of Medical Sciences). Children who test Covid 19 positive are known to suffer from Epilepsy, Encephalitis, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Kawasaki like disease and other complications.

Teenage girl,13 complained of fever and encephalopathy( Swelling of the brain). She was tested covid 19 positives. She is being treated by AIIMS authorities. Doctors are still trying to ascertain if her condition was the result of covid 19.

AIIMS has reported Another case of a teenage girl, 11. Coronavirus disease has induced brain nerve damage leading to blurred vision in the child. Its the first covid 19 induced brain nerve damage case reported by AIIMS.

Soon a report on her health condition will be published by the doctors in the child neurology division. The draft if the report mentioned,” We have found Covid-19 infection-induced Acute Demyelinating Syndrome (ADS) in an 11-year-old girl. This is the first case that has been reported in the paediatric age group.“

Dr Sheffali Gulati, chief, child neurology division, department of paediatrics, AIIMS, Delhi said that the girl came to them with a loss of vision. MRI showed ADS. Now it is well known that the virus affects the brain and lungs. She added that a report will be published soon as it is now established that her condition is Covid 19 induced. The girl was undergoing her treatment under Dr Gulati’s supervision. The girl was discharged after she regained 50% of her vision. Her condition improved with immunotherapy.
