The kingpin of Namaste Gang arrested in Delhi. The accused Chand Mohammad had committed nearly 100 such crimes in the past in Delhi and nearby regions since 2017. And now he is being arrested by the Delhi police.
Chief of Namaste gang arrested:
From 2017 to 2020, the accused dis target several individuals. On Tuesday, the police arrested the kingpin of the Namaste gang. The Namaste gang used to rob the people after greeting them with folded hands. Chand Mohamad, 35 is the resident of Faridabad in Haryana. He used to target the senior citizens and after introducing himself as a friend of one of their relatives he used to rob them.
Police said that Chand Mohammed has committed more than 100 crimes since 2017. He used to greet his targets with folded hands and seek their blessings by touching their feet. And then he would ask for their jewellery on some pretext and then he would disappear from that place.
Besides Chand Mohammad, Dinesh Kumar Soni is also arrested. Dinesh Kumar Soni, 47 is a resident of Faridabad and used to buy the stolen items from Mohammad. On 17 October, a 70-year-old woman filed a complaint against him in which she told that the man-made a Namaste gesture and touched her feet. Then he introduced himself as a jeweller known to one of her relatives. He then asked her to give him the gold earrings and after taking that jeweller from her, he fled away.
Mr Thakur said, “The accused had committed similar crimes in the area of Maidan Garhi, Neb Sarai, Sangam Vihar, Govindpuri, Ambedkar Nagar, Malviya Nagar and other areas of south district earlier. To arrest the accused, our team collected CCTV footage of the incident and identified him and the vehicle used in committing the crime.”
