The official notice reads as follows:
“Due to prolonged emergent conditions in the country and requests from various state governments and ongoing admission process of llTs and NITs, the council has extended the last date of admission to first-year engineering courses (UG and Diploma lateral entry) to November 30.”
New session for engineering colleges to commence from 1 December: AICTE
Earlier, the session for engineering, architecture, pharmacy and other courses was scheduled to begin from 16 August for existing students and the first new batch, from 15 September.

UGC has asked the colleges to teach six days a week to compensate for the loss of academic time. Also, UGC has told the colleges to shorten winter break this year and summer break next year. To compensate for the loss for the academic session 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, universities will follow a six-day week pattern.
