Three dead and woman beheaded in knife attack in French church

On Thursday, in the French city of Nice a woman was beheaded two other people were killed by a knife-wielding attacker who repeatedly shouted the phrase “Allahu Akbar”, or God is greatest.


What Happened?

Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice took the incident to Twitter and called the attack terrorism. He informed that the attack took place in or near Nice’s Notre Dame church.


Explaining the attack on a further note, Estrosi said that the attacker was repeatedly shouting the phrase “Allahu Akbar”, or God is greatest.

The attack came when there is a holiday in France. The holiday is the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad and it is being celebrated on Thursday

Who got killed in the attack?

According to Christian Estrosi, one of the people who got killed in the attack was believed to be the churchwarden. He was killed inside the church. He further said that one woman who was there in the church at the time of the attack tried to escape from there and fled into a bar opposite the building.

The police sources further informed that a woman was beheaded. Thus, confirming the death of three people in the attack while many others are left injured.

At present, the French police have detained the attacker. However, during the detention process, the suspected knife attacker was shot by the police and now he has been hospitalized and is alive.

Moreover, the French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s department is given the task to investigate the matter.

Putting his grief in words, Christian Estrosi said the victims had been killed in a “horrible way”.

“Enough is enough. It’s time now for France to exonerate itself from the laws of peace to definitively wipe out Islamo-fascism from our territory.”


Estrosi further informed that the president of France, Emmanuel Macron is due to visit Nice.

Moreover, in the capital city of France, the National Assembly observed a minute’s silence in solidarity with the victims of this attack.
