New Delhi: on Monday police reported that a 17-year-old girl was murdered to cover the rape attempt by her maternal uncle. Police revealed that the girl used to live with her uncle and aunt in Delhi. They killed her and hid her in a bed box.
The incident happened last month in Nandnagri area in Northeast Delhi. The girl was living with her uncle Vakeel Podar,52 and wife,45. She had been pursuing her studies from Delhi. Since 23 October, the girl had been missing. Police reported that her decomposed body was found on Monday. The body was found in a bed box inside her uncle and aunt’s house.
To hide a rape attempt, a couple kills their niece: Cops
The girl’s aunt is a beggar. She told police in her statement that when she returned after begging at 12:30 pm on 23 October, she could not find her niece at home. She said that her husband said that he left the girl in an orphanage in Ghaziabad.
Later it was found by the police that on 23 October, no girl by this name was brought to the orphanage.
While investigating, police noticed that Vakeel Podar was missing. Ved Prakash Surya is Deputy Commissioner of police, northeast. He said that during the investigation the accused said that the minor was the daughter of his sister in law. He tried to have a physical relationship with her but she objected. Podar added, “When his wife came to know about the incident, she confronted him and they had a quarrel. Although Podar wanted the girl to stay with them, it was decided that she should be sent to the village, to which the victim refused since she wanted to pursue her studies and complete her education. On this, Podar and his wife had clashed several times.”
