On Sunday, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) and Virgin Hyperloop signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which is also a first of its kind. According to the memorandum, there will be a conduct of feasibility study for the proposed Hyperloop corridor from Kempegowda International Airport to Bengaluru city.
In the statement released by Virgin Hyperloop, it said the connectivity can help in reducing the travel time between the airport and the city center to 10 minutes only.
Hyperloop connectivity will reduce travelers time to the Airport
The statement read, “The pre-feasibility study, which aims at technical, economical, And route feasibility is expected to complete in two phases, each phase of six months. Having a speed of up to 1080 km, the Hyperloop can transport thousands of passengers per hour from Bangalore Airport to the city center corridor in just 10 minutes, stated by early analysis.”
The memorandum was exchanged virtually between Sultan bin Sulayem, Chairman of Virgin Hyperloop and DP World, and T.M. Vijay Bhaskar, Chief Secretary of Karnataka and Chairman of the Board of Directors at BIAL in front of Kapil Mohan, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure Development Department.
Hyperloop connectivity will define future mobility
TM Vijay Bhaskar said that the commissioning of a feasibility study for Hyperloop connectivity from Bengaluru Airport to the city center corridor is another major step towards building the infrastructure required to establish mobility for the future and enabling the productive movement of people.
Virgin Hyperloop said that travelers could simply their multimodal trip with a seamless check-in and security for both their Hyperloop and air travel at the centrally located hyperloop portals
Sultan bin Sulayem said, “We feel honored to partner with BIAL in exploring the ways by which Hyperloop can become the part of the solution that will help in tackle congestion and support economic growth in Bengaluru. Apart from the transportation of passengers, airports become crucial for the transportation of goods also, especially for time-sensitive deliveries. A Hyperloop connected airport will improve the delivery of cargo and will create an ultra sufficient supply chain.”
Meantime, Bengaluru Airport announced that it will be connected to the Suburban railway in few weeks and will have metro connectivity in four years.
