Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) young opener Devdutt Padikkal got lots of praises from his opening partner Aaron Finch after he displayed his highly-rated talent with a 50 on his IPL debut.
The Aussie opener said that he loved opening with Devdutt Padikkal who is an exciting young prospect. Padikkal was dismissed after scoring 56 off 42 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on his IPL debut. By the time he got out, he already had set the platform for his side. In the process, the talented batsman also made a rare record as he became the only Indian batsman to have scored 50+ runs in his first-class, List A, T20 and IPL debut.
“Padikkal has shown it over the last few years in domestic cricket and U-19 cricket how talented he is and I think he can be destructive while batting highest of the order. I enjoyed opening with him as he is such a brilliant young player. My advice to him would be to play your natural game and if you are feeling it against the actual bowler then keep going. Play nice and play smart, then even I can change my role a bit”, Aaron Finch said at the post-match conference.
Despite the tough conditions, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal helped RCB to get back in the game as he bagged two crucial and back-to-back wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar in the 16th over, it changed the momentum of the game.
Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 163 for 5 in 20 overs, after the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner won the toss and opted to bowl at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. SRH were all out for 153 in the 20th over.
