IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals have suffered another major setback after their defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi captain Iyer’s woes have increased considerably.
Delhi Capitals captain Shreyash Iyer has suffered another major setback following Tuesday’s defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shreyash Iyer has been found guilty of slow over rate in the match against Hyderabad. Since this is the first case of slow over rate against Shreyash Iyer, he has been fined Rs 12 lakh.
Shreyash Iyer has been briefed on the penalty on behalf of IPL officials. “The first case of breaking the IPL code of conduct against Delhi Capitals is linked to slow over rate,” the statement said. Captain Iyer is fined Rs 12 lakh.
Shreyash Iyer, however, is not the first captain in IPL season 13 to be fined for slow over rate. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has also been fined Rs 15 lakh for his slow over rate.
Delhi Capitals’ share of defeat
Delhi Capitals have also suffered their first defeat in the tournament. Delhi Capitals set a target of 163 runs to win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. But the Delhi team were 147 for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated overs. After the defeat, Delhi has also lost its first position in the points table.
Shreyash Iyer said after the match that Sunrisers Hyderabad beat his team in all three areas. Delhi Capitals’ next match is with Kolkata Knight Riders on October 3.
