IPL 2020: After an extended break of six months, Indian captain Virat Kohli will be back on the field when he leads Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their opening game of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both the teams have shared a healthy rivalry within the past two seasons but with David Warner returning as Hyderabad’s captain, things might be different this time. The former Australian vice-captain has changed as a person but is predicted to play the same aggressive brand of cricket when he leads his side after two seasons.
Match 3 of the Dream11 IPL 2020 will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It will be the first game in Dubai of Dream11 IPL 2020. Going into the competition, both the teams might have doubts and Kohli and Warner will need to make some tough calls.
Virat Kohli is predicted to open the innings just like he did in previous seasons, but he will need a new opening partner this time. Also, it remains to be seen if Aaron Finch is in a position to fit into the playing XI. In the bowling department, Kohli will have doubts about how many spinners he will need for the match, and hence a few pacers could be seen warming the bench. Despite the Bangalore-based franchise signing Australian leggie Adam Zampa, they will need variety of spinners along with Zampa to make the most of their chances.
Coming to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Warner’s return as captain after a year-long ban from any kind of cricket could mean that Kane Williamson may need to sit on the bench. Rashid Khan and Jonny Bairstow look obvious selections while Afganistan’s Mohammad Nabi is also a favourite to be in the final XI due to his brilliant recent form. Swing master Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace attack and he will have a number of other Indian International cricketers to back him. Rashid’s presence will make the spin department an important one.
Both the teams have got a new coaching staff for the Dream11 IPL 2020. Mike Hesson, who coached runner-ups New Zealand in the 2015 ICC World Cup, is now RCB’s Director of Cricket. His team includes former Australian batsman Simon Katich, Adam Griffith, Sridharan Sriram and fitness coach Shankar Basu.
Trevor Bayliss, England’s World Cup-winning coach, have replaced Tom Moody as the coach of SRH in Dream11 IPL 2020. His support staff includes former Australian keeper-batsman Brad Haddin, VVS Laxman and Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan.
With the firepower they have in their opening pair, and with one of the best T20 bowlers and a pace-attack full of stars, one-time IPL winning captain David Warner’s SRH will be the favourites to begin their season with a win.
