The Mumbai team was in distress by losing three wickets for a score of 39. Ishan Kishan took the responsibility. The 22-year-old young wicket-keeper batsman hit two fours and nine sixes throughout his innings. He teamed up with Kieron Pollard to add a partnership of 119 runs for the fifth wicket. The partnership gave Mumbai a comeback in the match.

In the last over, Mumbai needed 18 runs to win. The first two balls gave two runs, but Kishan then hit two consecutive sixes on the balls of Udana. In the last two balls, Mumbai had to score five runs to win. Kishan was taken to the boundary in an attempt to go for a six. He was out for 99.

Pollard, who scored 60 runs in 24 balls, tied the score in the last ball of the match. The match went into super overs and Bangalore won the match with zero balls to go.
