Uber launches ‘Auto Rentals’: On Wednesday, Uber launched an on-demand 24×7 Auto Rentals service in India.

This new feature launched by the company allows Uber users to book an auto and its driver for several hours. Under this service, the riders can also make multiple stops during a journey, Uber said in a statement.

This feature is also pinned with an affordable price of Rs. 169 for a one-hour per 10 km package and the service can be booked up to a maximum of 8 hours.

At present this service is only available in the 6 cities of India namely – Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.

Commenting on this launch in India, Uber said: “This is an India-first innovation and a prime example of how we leverage technology to benefit both riders and drivers.”

The company further claims that this new service – ‘Auto Rentals’ will provide users with a personalized experience as they can personalize their rides according to their requirements.


According to the company, Auto Rentals are very much flexible and convenient in situations where one needs to run errands as they can add multiple stops during the journey and they don’t have to worry about booking multiple trips during the journey.

Other new additions by Uber

Besides, Uber also launched a set of safety measures like a mandatory mask policy for both riders and drivers due to the pandemic, pre-trip mask verification selfies for drivers, mandatory driver education, the Go Online Checklist, and an updated cancellation policy that allows both riders and drivers to cancel trips if they don’t feel safe.

Earlier this month the company had hired 140 engineers for its tech teams in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. They hired engineers will mainly focus on developing new products in areas including driver growth, delivery, customer service, digital payments, technological development, and so on.
