Dubai police have arrested a young man who has been identified in a viral video dancing inappropriately in a local cafe.
On Sunday, The Dubai police tweeted that the man was arrested under the charges of the indecent acts in public. The police have also arrested another man who recorded as well as posted the video online on social media platforms. He was taken into custody on the basis of posting the online content which disregards Public mortality.
Also, the police in coordination with the Dubai Municipality and Dubai Tourism fined and shut down the cafe.
Charges on the young man
According to a press release by Dubai police, the young man was arrested on the charges of committing public indecent acts as he has appeared in a video in which he was dancing indecently in a local cafe. Police also arrested a man who recorded the video and posted it on social media platforms. He was arrested under the charges of posting online content that violates public mortality.
According to Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Dubai Police, the police team started taking action against the man as soon as they find the video circulating on the social media platforms.
He further added that the Criminal Data Analysis Centre of Dubai Police identified the young man who appeared in the video as well as the man who recorded the video.
He also noted that Article (358) of the UAE Penal code says that if a person openly commits an inappropriate or indecent act shall be punished by at least six months detention.

Heavy Fine as a punishment
Brig. Al Jallaf further explained that Article 24 of the UAE’s cyber-crime law states that creating or running an electronic site to publish, through any means of information technology, online content, programs or any ideas that damage the public decency shall be punishable. The punishment may include temporary imprisonment and a heavy fine of up to 500,000–1,000,000 Dhirams.
The official also informed that the Dubai police in coordination with the Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai Municipality, and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has fined and shut down the cafe for not following the proper norms for the prevention of COVID 19 infection.
